Mustang Dark Horse is an all-new breed of racehorse.  Benefitting from the engineering and development lessons learned from all previous Mustang performance series, the 500 hp Mustang Dark Horse is the most track-capable 5.0-liter V8 street-legal Mustang ever made.  As an owner of this exciting new car, you will help create this model’s identity, and starting with participating in the Dark Horse Track Attack, you have the exclusive opportunity to learn firsthand about the exciting features that make this the special car that it is – a worthy heir to all previous Mustang performance models.

Not only will you leave the program a better driver, but you’ll also learn all about the features, attributes, and nuances of your new Dark Horse – from its high-revving 500 hp V8 engine to its aerodynamic efficiency, performance transmissions, exceptional downforce, and MagneRide® shocks capable of monitoring wheel and tire movement 1,000 times per second, optimizing performance based on driving surface or driving mode.

Under the watchful eyes the of Ford Performance Racing School’s professional instructors, you will put all these vehicle features through their paces on the challenging road course and high banks of “America’s Home for Racing,” Charlotte Motor Speedway.  You will learn plenty about your new vehicle – and about yourself – as you complete this program which is only available to Dark Horse owners and is free of charge courtesy of Ford and Ford Performance.

“For decades, Mustang has competed against the most premium brands on the greatest world stages and won,” said Jim Farley, CEO of Ford Motor Company. “We surprised everyone, and we’re going to surprise them again with a track-capable Mustang that puts a new level of performance, styling and American engineering in the hands of everyday customers who still want the thrill and excitement of a V8 sports car.  That’s Dark Horse.”

A special team of Ford engineers, designers and experts worked for more than three years to create Mustang Dark Horse to be a street and track-capable performance Mustang with striking visual cues and all the capabilities sports car lovers expect.  “It’s more than a new name.  Dark Horse brings a new design language to Mustang that is refined yet perfectly suited to its dual purpose of street and track performance,” said Joel Piaskowski, global director, Ford Design.  Joel continued, “This is the first time for Mustang that we’ve ever had a forward-facing horse.  It’s aggressive, a bit sinister and it’s coming from the shadows head-on to win.”

Aggressive.  Sinister.  Head-on to win.  With a program guided by these words, it is only natural that the arrival of Mustang Dark Horse heralds a new chapter in the storied Mustang motorsports history – a chapter that features a family of all-new Mustang track-only race cars heading to tracks around the world in addition to the street car.
